2 held for stealing mobiles, changing IMEI numbers – Times of India

Muzaffarnagar: Two men skilled in changing IMEI numbers of expensive mobile phones were arrested on Friday from Civil Lines area here. Police seized 10 stolen mobile phones from them.

According to police sources, the duo stole high-end mobile phones and sell them after changing their IMEI numbers. Police are looking for other members of the gang and owners of the stolen mobiles.

Giving details , D K Tyagi, SHO of Civil Lines police station, said after getting tip-off, police laid a trap and arrested Rashid and Parvez with 10 branded mobiles. A mobile which they had stolen from DGM railway Brij-PAL in July 2018 was seized from them.

Tyagi said they are well qualified and know how change IMEI numbers of mobile phones. Both were produced before the magistrate and sent to jail.
